Robbers Strike Cocoa Depot in Fomena, Escape with Over GH₵1 Million

A cocoa depot in Fomena, Ashanti Region, has fallen victim to a robbery carried out by suspected armed robbers. The criminals, who were masked and armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the Agro Ecom Company Limited Cocoa Depot at Adansi Ansah on Thursday evening around 6:20 PM, according to a report by MyNewsGh.com.

The robbers, numbering four, made away with over GH₵1 million and several mobile phones. During the attack, they fired shots into a GMC Terrain 2 vehicle (registration number GS 9576-22) belonging to the District Officer and also targeted the depot manager’s vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Police were quickly notified of the incident, but the robbers escaped into a nearby bush before law enforcement could arrive. A joint team of officers from New Edubiasi and Adansi Fomena has initiated a manhunt for the suspects, who are believed to be hiding in nearby communities. Efforts are underway to apprehend them and recover the stolen money.
